We have had a very productive couple of weeks and made good progress. Here is a summary of our current position:
- Appointment of Preferred Contractor: We are pleased to confirm that we have appointed a preferred contractor to install the padel courts: OnPoint Groundworks Ltd, based in Kettering. They have extensive experience in padel court construction across the UK. Over the coming weeks, we will be working with them to finalise technical and installation plans, confirm groundwork requirements, agree a construction programme, and develop a draft contract. While they have indicated they could begin work within a few weeks, we have made it clear that construction cannot commence until a licence or lease is in place granting permission to build and operate the courts at Napton Sports Field.
- Funding and Support: We are delighted to confirm sponsorship from Raised Modular Flooring (RMF) Ltd, a local company based in Leamington Spa. They have been enthusiastic supporters of bringing padel to the village from the outset, and we are very grateful for their generous backing.
- Booking and Court Management
We are currently evaluating integrated, web-based club management systems. These systems combine booking, payment, court access and lighting control, while also supporting financial record-keeping and accounting. Napton Sports Association is closely involved in these discussions. - Licensing Progress
This remains our most significant outstanding risk. Until we receive formal permission—via a licence or lease—to build and operate padel courts at Napton Sports Field, we are unable to begin construction, despite being otherwise ready to proceed. We received an update on 25th March from Napton Parish Council confirming that: “NPC’s solicitor has contacted the Diocese’s solicitor directly and we are currently awaiting their response.” At present, there is little we can do to accelerate this process, and we must await further communication from the Council. However, provided there are no significant delays, we remain confident that the court could be operational relatively soon after approval is granted.
Thank you for your continued support.
