NAPTON PADEL PROJECT UPDATE

April Update

Here’s a Summary of progress since our last newsletter.

  1. Court Construction: We continue to make good progress with our appointed contractor, OnPoint Ltd. They are developing detailed construction and delivery plans. The image provides a realistic visualisation of how the courts will sit alongside the existing tennis courts, multi-use games area, and car park at Napton Sports Field.
At present, available funding allows for the construction of the right-hand court. The second (left-hand) court will be delivered as soon as additional funding is secured.
  2. Licensing Update: The Parish Council’s solicitors are now in active discussions with the Coventry Diocese’s solicitors to resolve the outstanding lease issues as quickly as possible. This will enable the Parish Council to grant Napton Padel Club permission to install and run the padel courts. Once the lease is in place, construction can begin immediately.
  3. Operating the Padel Club: As we move towards the end of the planning phase, our focus is turning to how the Padel Club will operate. Our core principle has always been to provide high-quality, accessible sports facilities for the benefit of the local community in Napton. What this means in practice for you:

a. Flexible access for casual players: Villagers who wish to try padel or play occasionally will be able to book courts on a pay-to-play basis at a discounted hourly rate. Racquets and balls will also be available for hire or use.
b. Value for regular players: For those intending to play more frequently, membership options will be competitively priced, offering benefits such as priority court booking.
c. Inclusive for all abilities: Whether you are completely new to padel or an experienced player, the club will cater for all levels. This will include taster sessions, introductory coaching, and social play opportunities for those looking to meet others of a similar standard. For more competitive players, we plan to introduce club leagues and, in time, matches against other local clubs.
d. Simple booking and access: Court booking and payment will be managed through an easy-to-use app, which will also provide secure access codes for entry.
e. Community-led approach: We are committed to developing a club with a strong local identity, shaped by the needs and preferences of its members.
