NAPTON PADEL PROJECT UPDATE

January Update

Belated greetings and best wishes for a Happy New Year. Despite the inevitable slowdown over the Christmas and New Year period, we are pleased to report that the momentum built during 2025 has continued. Below is an update on our progress.

Court Construction Programme

  • We received strong responses to our tender request and have shortlisted three established contractors.
  • We plan to meet with each contractor to discuss their proposals in more detail, ensuring clarity and avoiding any surprises once construction begins.
  • In parallel, we have appointed local companies to prepare detailed plans for a retaining wall and seating area adjacent to the existing tennis courts, as well as to carry out a soil survey. These are essential requirements for both the contractors and Stratford District Council planners.

Finance

We currently have sufficient funding to construct one court immediately, although additional funds are still required to build the second. We continue to apply for grants and, if successful, it may be possible to retain the contractors on site to complete the second court directly after the first. If funding for the second court is not secured immediately, we will continue pursuing grants throughout the year and use any surplus income generated from operating the first court to fund the second court.

Charity Status

Napton Padel Club is now officially registered as a charity, with aims closely aligned to those of the Napton Sports Association. Our purpose is to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing padel courts and, when funds allow, by issuing grants to support local sports clubs in developing their own initiatives.

Sponsors and Benefactors

We have been extremely fortunate to receive generous financial support from several local individuals and businesses, enabling us to reach the funding required to build one court. In particular, we would like to thank RMF (Raised Modular Flooring) Ltd of Leamington for their exceptionally generous sponsorship of the court. We are also very grateful to all those who have supported us through donations, interest-free loans, or by purchasing Napton Padel Club community bonds. Without their support, we would not have reached this stage.

What to Expect Over the Coming Weeks

  • You may notice survey work taking place in the area proposed for the padel courts.
  • We will appoint a preferred contractor and anticipate starting construction in March.
  • An open day is planned to give local residents the opportunity to view the plans and learn more about what Napton Padel Club will offer.
  • We will continue recruiting volunteers to help with the running of the club.
