NAPTON PADEL PROJECT UPDATE

September Update

Project Update – Noise & Ecology Reports, Planning Application

There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes, and we’re pleased to share some important progress.
We’ve now received the final survey reports from independent experts on both the noise impact and the ecology survey with biodiversity net gain proposals.

Noise Report
The findings are very reassuring. The proposed courts will have natural sound barriers of the other sports facilities and surrounding trees and hedges. They effectively dampen noise, just as they currently do for tennis, netball, and five-a-side football.
The surveyor concluded that:
  • Noise impact from the proposed development will typically be low.
  • Whilst noise may be audible on occasion, it is unlikely to cause an adverse impact or any material change in behaviour.
  • The site is suitable for the intended use and no mitigation measures are required.
In summary, the noise impact will be minimal—fantastic news for local residents who supported the project in our summer survey.

Ecology Report
The ecology survey also brought good news:
  • No issues were found with protected species.
  • The site offers opportunities to enhance biodiversity by adding insect habitats and planting a mix of trees and grasses.

The next stage is to:

  1. Discuss the planning application with Napton Parish Council and if signed off,
  2. Submit the planning application (along with the survey reports and technical drawings) to Stratford District Council. Their website suggests a decision could be reached in around 8 weeks

With the continuing support of Napton Parish Council and Napton Sports Association, we remain hopeful of opening the new courts by Easter 2026.

This graphic, taken from the noise survey, shows the noise impact around the court with the green areas being the same as existing background noise in the area already.
